So I heard you want abs in time for summer?

When it comes to toning your core, there are many different things to take into consideration. “Bellies are made in the kitchen,” IS TRUE. You won’t be successful in trimming up your midsection if your diet is full of sugar and starchy carbs. It’s not all about doing crunches. In fact, depending on your genetic build, sometimes doing too much core work will work against you. Building core muscle is great but too much can widen your midsection instead of making it look slim and toned. Here are my top 5 suggestions for your summer tummy!

Problem Foods For Fitness
  • Steer clear of processed foods and sugary drinks!!
Belly fat is related to inflammation, which can be caused by processed foods. Foods with antioxidants (fruits, veggies, whole grains) act as an anti-inflammatory and actually prevent belly fat.
  • Cardio is your best friend!
When burning calories and working toward a daily calorie deficit, one of the first areas you’ll notice fat loss is the midsection. When doing cardio, try HIIT workouts. These are much more effective for fat loss than steady-state workouts. Check out this link to learn more:

Sweet Sweat
  • Hydrate hydrate hydrate!
Drinking water has countless affects on your body, inside and out. Drinking at least 2 liters a day will aid in boosting your metabolism, flushing out toxins, and dropping any water weight you may be retaining. To make this a little easier try these tips:
  1. Flavor your water with fruits or “Stir water enhancer” drops
  2. Get a big and reusable water bottle (50oz or more.) This will make it easier to keep track of how much you’ve consumed
  3. Do a 5 second chug every 15 min.
  4. Always have two glasses with every meal
  • Try a Waist Trainer!
I recommend the brand Sweet Sweat, they have a gel to go with the wrap that helps you burn fat in targeted areas. Try wearing it to sleep and during cardio workouts.
  • Keep your core exercises at high intensity!
Work out your abs and obliques 2-3 times per week if you exercise regularly. Keep up the pace with minimal rest time to slim and tone up.

When in doubt:
